During the day prizes were contend-ed for in pole climbing, sackracing, pig chasing, boxing and othergames of amusement, the endre day being given up to pleasureand entertainment, the camp being crowded with visitors fromWashington and members of the brigade, the Twenty-thirdentertaining all who called. There being present HonorableSimon Cameron, Secretary of War; members of Congressfrom Pennsylvania and many distinguished and influentialcidzens, friends of the regiment from Philadelphia. Thedivision was drilled in evolutions of the line weekly byGeneral Buell, while he remained in command. In these. Home; the old boys were always out in force to greetthe youngsters.
