Internal anatomy, 14th century artwork. The skeleton, the rib cage, and the internal organs of the abdomen are shown. Artwork from Anathomia (1345), by the Italian anatomist Guido da Vigevano (1280-1349). Vigevano, one of the earliest anatomists of the medieval period, was the first to provide anatomical artworks in his manuscripts.
