The British Reoccupation of Burma Major General Ichida, officer in charge of the Japanese administration of Operation Nipoff, the scheme devised to repatriate 35,000 prisoners to Japan, sees off another batch of prisoners who are returning home. Operation Nipoff was directed by Headquarters Burma Command but administered by the Japanese themselves through their former Burma Area Army Headquarters staff.
