railway line above the flooded fields of Newton Meadows between Bath and Saltford


Brunel certainly knew what he was doing when he built the railway line high above the flood plains on the edge of Bath. This is the view looking towards Saltford on 13th January 2022 following significant rainfall. The river normally runs parallel to the railway as it approaches Saltford. Several trains were diverted along this stretch due to flooding at Chipping Sodbury and elsewhere on the network. 1.
