Kyoto Temple of the Golden Pavilion - Zen Buddhist temple Kinkaku-ji

Kyoto 🇯🇵 - from the crowded streets of Tokyo to the calm and beautiful gardens of Kyoto. Here in the picture is Kinkaku-ju ("Temple of the Golden Pavilion"), one of the most popular zen temples of Japan. The history of this temple dates back to 1397 when it was purchased by Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu and transformed into the Kinkaku-ji complex. Over its long life it was burned twice and rebuilt for the last time in 1955.
