It has a long silkypile with deep Chinese blue ground, displa^^ing a central medallionof floral forms, frets and swastikas woven in soft fed, yellow, draband white. Also comer motifs in similar colors,,^! of which isframed by three harmonious borders, an inner band consisting ofwhite dots on a blue background;, the main border stripe composedof graceful floral scrolls and blossoms in yfello-v^, light blue, drab, redand white on a blue ground, and the p^e^.bprder of plain blue. (See page 301) , .. m^^mM^££m CHINESE RUGS Simmon red, ash white, sapphire blue, peach blow,salmon pink, brownish red, brick red, greenishyellow, turquois blue, copper pink, and black. The different shades are of considerable assist-ance to the connoisseur in estimating the age of arug, for instance, robins egg blue, golden brown,and tan were mostly in vogue during the 17th cen-tury, and during that period, green and lemoncitron, greenish and reddish yellows were neveremployed.
