The body consists of two cheeks with four steps, connected by two axle bodies without wheels, and a soleplate. The gun gate is oval. The loading equipment is attached to the barrel with brackets: it consists of a wiper with a handle that passes through two guides at the end of a long rod. A spiral-shaped groove is provided in the handle, into which a rope is laid which gives the wiper the rotating movement. This rod is attached to the bar on the barrel and has handles at the back with which the wiper can be brought directly in front of the mouth by turning, or next to the cannon so that it can be brought in through the gun gate. The hoist, which must run over three eyes at the guides on the rod, and other parts with which the wiper must be operated, are missing. 1:10 scale (Obreen)., van de Weetering, Netherlands, 1863, wood (plant material), brass (alloy), iron (metal), textile materials, h cm × w cm × d cm × c mm × h 25 cm w cm × d 33 cm, Geerling designed this loading gear for the new armored defense vessels in 1863, keeping the gun gate as small as possible to protect the men from enemy fire. The design was tested on August 22, and although much criticism was expressed, it was recommended for further development. Geerling was asked to make improvements to the design, and it was tested again in 1864. Because the manageability was not significantly improved, further tests were stopped in 1865.
