Is not the possibility of such anappointment a striking proof of the needof an amendment to our federal constitu-tion bringing Mormon polygamists underfederal control? THE MORGAN MONUMENT. REV. DAVID S. WARNER, EDITOR S. S. LITERATURE, FREE METHODIST CHURCH. It was recently my privilege to spenda short time in Batavia, New my stay I made it a point to paya visit to the Morgan Monument. I. had passed the place many times on NewYork Central trains and had seen themonument, but this was my first visit tothis historic shaft. The monument, which was erectedthrough the efforts and contributions ofmany antimasons in memory of WilliamMorgan, who was murdered by Masonsin 1826 for publishing the secrets of theorder, stands in the southwest corner ofthe Batavia cemetery in a sightly andbeautiful spot. It stands solidly andpresents a fine appearance, being wellpreserved. The grounds about it arewell kept. The monument is a credit to August, 1918 CHRISTIAN CYNOSURE 99 the Cause which it represents and itstands as a protest against the secretlodge evil. I went to a store in the city wherepostcards were on sale to see if I couldget views of the monument. They hadnone, but the clerk said they had photo-graphs of it, and I was able to secureone of the entire monument, and one ofeach of the four sides, showing clearlythe several inscriptions.
