Christian Evangelist William (Billy) F. Graham points toward heaven during a sermon inside the Cow Palace in Daly City, near San Francisco, California in 1997. American evangelist Billy Graham is believed to have preached the Christian Gospel to more people than anyone else. According the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, which Graham is Chairman of the Board, Graham reached international prominence with his 1949 Crusade in Los Angeles which attracted overflow crowds for eight weeks. Graham’s missions or crusades have been attended by over 200 million people in more than 185 countries. In 1950 Graham founded the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) based in Minneapolis, MN. Graham has been close to many United States Presidents over the years and has been awarded a Congressional Gold medal and the Ronald Regan Presidential Foundation Freedom Award. Under Graham’s direction the BGEA produces radio shows, television specials, newspaper column, a magazine and World Wide Pictures which produces and distributes evangelistic films in over 40 languages.
