Kirby Hall, near Corby, Northamptonshire, 2008. View of the front of the house with its bay windows and a peacock in the foreground. Kirby Hall was one of the finest houses built in the 17th century. Begun in 1570 by Sir Humphrey Stafford, it was completed by Sir Christopher Hatton, Lord Chancellor to Elizabeth I.
