Psoriasis

Psoriasis on the neck of a 29 year old Indian woman who has stopped taking the drug Stelara due to fear of the Covid-19 pandemic. Psoriasis is a skin condition where excessive growth of skin cells can lead to itchy, scaly, thickened patches (plaques) of skin which may become infected. Psoriasis is sometimes triggered by emotional stress, some infections or drugs, although often the cause is unknown. Stelara, which contains the active ingredient ustekinumab, is used to treat plaque psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. It is a human monoclonal antibody drug that blocks interleukin 12 and interleukin 23, which are involved in the inflammatory response.
