Here Is Your Barrel Feeder In constructing the feeder indicatedin the accompanying sketch, make aplatform 36 in. square, with four inchsides, setting a good oil or kerosenebarrel in it. Have four strap ironsmade 1J4 in. wide, 18 in. long, bent asshown, bolting one end to the plat-form and the other to the barrel. Byhaving several holes in the iron nextto the barrel, the flow of feed can beregulated to flow as desired. This makes a good feeder forshelled corn and is cheap and can easily afford to have sev-eral of them. Each will accommo-date fifty small pigs, as ten or fifteencan eat at one time. I am using thiskind of a barrel feeder, and find it sat-isfactory in every FRANKSHELLROCK. It consists of a feed trough,a grass rack and a water troughmounted on two pieces of joist so as toform one end of the pen. Its construc-tion is as follows: An ordinary V-shaped trough has the lower corner ofeach of its end pieces bolted to the up-right, the uprights in turn being fastened to the beam forming the base. Notchesare cut in the tops of these uprights tohold the corner of the swinging gateor panel. The bar is kept from jump-ing out of the notches by pieces serves as a brace between the up-rights. Blocks E prevent the pigs push-ing the gate and getting loose. To feed pigs, the swinging panel ispushed far enough for the catch to geta bite on the side of the trough nearer
