Obelisk in the famous Piazza Novona, Rome, Lazio, Italy.
This image shows an obelisk in the famous Piazza Novona in Rome, Lazio, Italy. This obelisk is not from the ancient Egypt, but this was created at Aswan (Upper Egypt, 640 km south of Cairo) by the order of Roman Emperor Domitianus in 1st Century. The name of Domitianus is inscribed with hieroglyphs on this obelisk. The Earl of Arundel paid a deposit and attempted to ship it to London in the late 1630s but Urban VIII disallowed its export. The Obelisk is erected on top of the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi by Bernini in 1651.
