His plaited beard is un-usually long, andround his neck hewears a deep skin of the godis of an earthy-redcolour, and hisgeneral appearanceis that of the largepainted limestoneOsirid figure ofAmen-hetep I inthe British Mu-seum.^ On PlateXXII of the printededition we have astanding figure ofOsiris, and exceptfor not standing onthe object ^=^ hisform is in everyrespect that ofKhenti-Amenti, orKhenti- Amentiu,which title is indeedhim in the. In the Papyrus of Ani (Plate 4) the flesh of Osiris ispainted a green colour, and his long single white garmentis decorated with a design of scale work. In additionto the sceptre and whip he holds in his hands another sceptre |. From the back of his neck hangs the mendt (jY amulet, which betokens joy, pleasure, virility, him stand I sis and Nephthys, and before him,standing on a lotus, are the four children of Horus,who assisted their father in rejoining the members of thegod. Below these, hanging to a pole, is the skin of a 1 Northern Egyptian Gallery, No. 346 (Bay 3).
