The original tunnel was slightly \ ; nil-- , H)\\.\I<1) .lElhV CITV. it was decided that the elevation of thenew cut at its easterly end would bemade 40 ft. above the old tunnel andso bring the tracks down to the gradeof the elevated structure in the city ona four-track viaduct. This viaduct isknown as the Penhorn Creek viaduct,and extends from the portal of the cut steel structure. The work was beguna year ago and it has recently beencompleted. The new cut is imme-diately alongside the old tunnel, sothat the viaduct is nearly over the oldmain line of the railway. The heavy four-track steel viaductconsists of alternate 30 and 61-ft. plate- 5
