He filled amission to the United States in 1871-1873, and in 1875 was called on a spe-cial mission by Pres. Brigham Youngto accompany his son B. MorrisYoung and John Henry Smith on atour to organize Young Mens MutualImprovement Associations in all thewards and settlements throughout thestakes of Zion. In this mission thesebrethren were very successful. In1876 Elder Hardy married LibbieSmoot and they had five children. Hedied Aug. 23, 1905. HARRIS, Franklin Stewart, presi-dent of the Brigham Young Univer-sity and a member of the General. Board of Y. M. M. I. A. since 1923,was born Aug. 29, 1884, at Benjamin,Utah, a son of Dennison Emer Harris and Eunice Stewart. He was baptizedSept. 1, 1892, by John Allen, and asthe family located at Colonia Juarez,Chihuahua, Mexico, soon afterwards,ho was ordained to offices of theAaronic Priesthood there; he alsoacted as secretary of the ward andstake M. I. A. and served in manyother Church activities. Returningto Utah about 1905, he became an in-structor in the Y. M. M. I. A. of theBrigham Young University. For tenyears he was a faculty member ofthe Utah Agricultural College, andfor five years head of the experi-mental station of that school, havingtaken out his Ph. D. at Cornell Uni-versity. Since 1921 he has presidedover the Brigham Young 1926 he labored as a missionary inJapan and in 1927 was called on
