Saturday, 20 November, 2021 - Dr Michael Ireland and Councillor Kevin Ball are at Okehampton Station as the first Dartmoor Line train arrives. A regular passenger service to Exeter has been inaugurated after a gap of nearly 50 years. To renew the way, 11 miles of new track were laid, with 24,000 concrete sleepers, and 29,000 tonnes of balast. Restoring regular service will improve links for commuters and provide a terminal for visitors to explore Dartmoor National Park. It will boost boost local businesses, the tourism sector and provide better access to work and education for locals.
