They have a high compressed body, imbri-cated scales, a long high dorsal with the spines few andcrowded in front, a long high anal, well-developed ven-trals, setiform teeth in the jaws, and an edentulons 7 species are known as inhabitants of the Indianand western Pacific oceans.
