Con-traiy to our expectationwe found that it wasnot the image of anyDeva, but simply asmall Buddhist chaityamade of stone which is1^ feet high. On eachside of this chaitya is anaked figure, whichappears to every oneto be the representa-tion of Bodhisattvas ina crude form. ( PlateNo. 53 ).
