EDWARD STETSON GRIFFING, Lawyer,was born in Lexington, Massachusetts, July29, 1867. His father, Abner Augustus Grififing,was a descendant of Jasper Grififing, a Welshman UNIVERSiriES AND THEIR SONS 455 who came to Long Island about 1675. His mother,Abbie Cliandler Stetson, was descended fromCornet Stetson, who settled in Plymouth county,Massachusetts, about 1635. After being educatedat Phillips-Exeter Academy and at Dummer Acad-emy, Mr. Griffing entered Harvard and was gradu-ated in 1890.
