Ms. Mindy Simonson, Scientific Recovery Expert with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), sifts through dirt at a dry-screen near Pambaniang Village, East Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea on Sep. 6, 2022. The investigation team visited multiple areas across the country in hopes of recovering missing service members lost during World War II. DPAA’s mission is to achieve the fullest possible accounting for missing and unaccounted-for personnel to their families and the nation.
