The Moot Hall in Elstow, Bedfordshire, England

Formerly known as the Green House, the Moot Hall in Elstow was originally constructed in the 15th c., being extended a little while afterwards. It was built by Elstow Abbey to serve the fairs that were held there - it is now believed that the lower rooms were permanent shops (also including some living accomodation, possibly for guests of the abbey) whilst the upper floor served as the abbess' court. In later years it was used as a school and a non-conformist chapel. The building was restored in 1951 and is now a museum of 17th c. life, with a particular emphasis on John Bunyan, who was born in the parish and would have known the Moot Hall very well.
