Four largest asteroids, computer scale artwork. The asteroids are seen against North America for scale. From left, from largest to smallest, they are: Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, and Hygiea. These asteroids make up around half of the mass of the asteroid belt, a large group of rocky and icy bodies orbiting in space between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. Ceres, with a diameter of 950 kilometres, is classified as a dwarf planet. Vesta has a diameter of 530 kilometres. Pallas has a diameter of 550 kilometres but is less massive than Vesta. Hygiea is 500 by 350 kilometres.
