Goss asDean of the College of Engineering ofthe University of Illinois occurred February 5 in connection with the formalopening of the graduate school of theuniversity. The exercises of installa-tion included two sessions and a tour ofinspection through the laboratories ofthe College of Engineering. The programme for the morning ses-sion began with a brief address by thepresident of the university, Dr. Ed-mund J. Janus, introducing the chair-. UK. \Y. F. M. GOSS. man of the session. Professor James Professor Ira O. Baker, whofor more than thirty years has beenidentified with the College of Engineer-ing, described some significant eventsin the development of the college. ei\ -ing special emphasis to the work ofStillman W.
