A little piece of history becoming unwound. NORTH WALES; UK: HAUNTING photographs have shown inside the derelict cottage so cluttered it was described as an ?Argos catalogue? once lived in by a woman known only as ?Nana?. An urban explorer found the abandoned home half-hidden by tall hedges next to a busy junction in a town in North Wales. The outside of the cottage was strewn with ivy and its once-charming blue painted windows were smashed, exposing tattered curtains to the elements. Inside the house, a vintage pastel-coloured hairdryer found on a sideboard had the faded brand name ?Currys deluxe?, not manufactured since the 1960s. The kitchen was photographed in a state, a cupboard having collapsed and sent an avalanche of crockery onto the floor where it had smashed. Meanwhile, the fridge was full of ancient jars of pickles and a plastic carton of milk. The conservatory was covered in a litter of dead leaves and more ivy had wound its way inside, as if trying to reclaim the woodland the cottage once occupied. A comfortable-looking chair in the living room, covered in sheet music, was resting next to a piano which looked as if it was once frequently played by the occupant. In the window there were purple flowers in a vase and there was also an old style box-shaped television in remarkably good condition. A photograph that was displayed pride of place on top of the piano showed a smiling young woman wearing graduation robes and a mortarboard hat. These photographs were taken by Adam Corkill (40) a hotel reservationist from Paignton, Devon, who said the house carried a ?post-apocalyptic? atmosphere, enhanced by the wind whistling through an open door. ?Inside the house was a real-life, living breathing 1970s 'Argos' catalogue,? he said. ?Hoovers, sowing machines, old style panel heaters, hairdryers sat proudly waiting to be used again, if not for their now-rusted circuit boards. ?Curtains clung for dear life to their rails and pots hung up in the kitchen making freq
