By her will (3rd September, 1628) in which she is de-scribed as Agnes, widow of James Redman, late parsonof Halton, she leaves to her daughters, Isabel and Sarah,portions equal to those which their sisters enjoyed. Shebequeaths small legacies to her daughter Rebeccas chil-dren, Bryan and James Mansergh; to her sister, JohnOtways wife, and her two daughters; to her AuntBower ; to Dorothy Staveley ; and to Mr. Leake, for thecare of her children. One of the youngest of these seven surviving childrenwas Daniel, who was born on November 30th, 1617, andthus at the time of his mothers death would be a boy ofnearly eleven. He was destined to play a prominent partin the Civil War which broke out a quarter of a centurylater, and to become the ancestor of some of the Irishnobles of to-day. When Daniel in his turn sought a wife he found heramong his mothers people in Abigail, daughter of RogerOtway, of Middleton, who was probably his first cousin ;and by this marriage he became brother-in-law of SirJohn Otway, who was three years his junior, and who,at the time of the marriage was probably studying law atone of the Inns of Court in London.
