The Hatchet is not easy to control, so keep the fingers outof the way and watch the direction of the grain of the wood. Toremove waste wood it is often best to make cuts nearly to the lineand then trim to the line (Fig. 158). With crooked grain this lessensthe danger of splitting the part you wish to keep, (See also page 33.)
