Skaters skate on ice skating rink in front of ferris wheel at the Berliner Weihnachtzeit Christmas market, Alexanderplatz, Mitte, Berlin The Berliner Weihnachtzeit is a German Christmas market sited around the historic Neptunbrunnen (Neptune Fountain) behind Alexanderplatz. The Festive wooden market stalls are situated between the Rotes Rathaus (Red Town Hall) and the Marienkirche. A festive atmosphere is provided by barrel organ music, mulled wine, stalls selling arts and crafts, bread baked in a traditional bakery and hot mead served from clay jars. Visitors can enjoy an ice rink and the 50-metre high Ferris wheel with traditional gondolas. Children enjoy visits to the petting zoo, pony rides, carousels, a train that runs through a snow-covered fairy tale forest and a whirligig
