Harold told of the Comet. News of Halley's Comet is brought to Harold Godwinson (c1022-1066). The comet can be seen in the top left of this detail from the Bayeux Tapestry. It depicts the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England concerning William, Duke of Normandy, and Harold, Earl of Wessex, later King of England, and culminating in the Battle of Hastings.
