Cementum The root is that portion of the tooth coveredwith cementum and placed in the jaw-bone, beinghidden by the gum or that portion of the mucousmembrane surrounding it. The neck is that portion of the tooth whichis constricted at the junction of cementum andenamel, joining the crown and the root. CARE OF THE MOUTH AND TEETH 19 The pulp cavity is a hollowed cavity withinthe crown and the root containing the pulp. Itmay be subdivided into pulp chamber, or that partof the cavity within the crown, and the pulp orroot canal, or that part within the root, one beingcontinuous with the other. These are termed the anatomical divisions ofthe tooth. Again, we find that these anatomicalparts are themselves made up of particular kindsof cells and tissues, five in number. The crown of the tooth Is covered by a tissuecalled enamel, which is the hardest substance inthe body. The enamel is composed of two kindsof
