Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy. The Karst Plateau by Trieste. Mount Hermada (Grmada in Slovenian) is a low hill on the boundary between Italy and Slovenia. In the course of the WWI, it was an inexpugnable bulwark of the Austro-Hungarian Army, that defended Trieste from its top. Austrian back lines : the entrance of a gallery that connected two dolines, in the neighbourhood of Ceroglie (Cerovlje).
