A 19th century image showing an example of an Alto-relievo ancient carving - Battle between Centaurs & Lapithae (Lapiths). They were two groups of legendary people in Greek mythology, whose home was in Thessaly, in the Peneus valley and on mount Pelion. In the Centauromachy, the Lapiths battled with the inebriated Centaurs at the wedding feast of Pirithous.
