Puck Fair - Ireland's oldest traditional fair. On August 10th,11th and 12th every year, the small town of Killorglin comes alive, whatever the weather, while the locals celebrate a tradition that has existed for more than 400 years. One of the legends of the fair is that the event pays tribute to a goat alerted the inhabitants of a danger for the advancing army of Oliver Cromwell during his conquest of Ireland in the 17th century. As a result the locals immediately set out to protect the town and their herds.
