A kulah khud, Persian, 18th century. The watered steel skull is forged in one piece with (19th century) chiselled floral and animal ornamentation over the entire surface. The riveted rim is surrounded with a gold inlaid inscription scroll and has a hanging aventail of riveted iron rings. Gold inlaid conical crest plate with a screw-in quadrangular spike. The sliding nasal is worked en suite and there are plume sockets on each side. Replacement cloth lining.
