Stanislaw I (Stanislaw Leszcynski) (Lwow, Poland, 1677-Luneville, France, 1766). King of Poland (1704-1709 and 1733-1736). He was elected king thanks to the support of Charles XII of Sweden. His defeat at Poltava (1709) forced him to flee to the principality of Deux-Ponts owned by Charles XII, at his death he left. In 1733 he returned to Poland being crowned again and supported by Louis XV of France. Attacked by Russia Stanislaw abdicated in 1736. Engraving. Later colouration.
