A splendid German halberd Circa 1580. Broad spike with pronounced central ridge, concave axe blade and fluke with several perforations, conically tapering, facetted socket with four long side straps. One edge of the spike jagged. The blade of the halberd with profuse black etchings of a male and female figure in contemporary attire between intricate scrolling leaves on dotted ground. Original shaft with remains of fabric tassels and original leather wrapping attached by nails. Shoe missing.
