The owl lands on the tree as it showcases its three-foot wide wingspan. SEFTON, UK: A BRIT photographer has captured stunning images of the UK?s beloved barn owl in flight. In one image, a one-pound barn owl stood atop a tree stump as it glanced directly down the camera lens. In another, the owl showcased its impressive three-foot wingspan whilst in flight and carried a mouse in its beak. Photographer, Gary Clarke (46) from Waterloo, Merseyside, UK, captured these beautiful images of a barn owl in Sefton, UK. With Gary standing just 30-foot away, the curious barn owl took flight before then returning to its favoured perch after finding a mouse. As a countryside bird, the barn owl can be found across the UK. Although population numbers are thought to have declined in the 1950s due to the use of organochlorine pesticides, it?s thought that there are around 4,000 breeding pairs in the UK. Gary captured the images using a Nikon D500 camera and lens with a converter. / Gary Clarke
