5th FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Feb. 22, 2017) Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Vincent Ames cuts an apple pie for an African-American History Month celebration dinner aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Truxtun. Truxtun is deployed in the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations designed to reassure allies and partners and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
