In the Cordillera Mountains of Northern Philippines the Ifugao people have recently been planting vegetables on the rice terraces when the rice planting season is over The terraces are irrigated with water from nearby tributaries and that is why they must plant the vegetables in elevated rows of earth otherwise they will get too much water
