Grade 2 listed building Pinner Court in Pinner Harrow

TQ 18 NW PINNER ROAD (north side) 1157-/3/10009 Pinner Court (nos. 37- 72) GV II Two blocks, each of 18 private flats: a mirrored pair forming a symmetrical composition. Rendered brick, bell-cast green pantiled hipped roofs with tall stacks. Three storeys. Each block is L-shaped, with curved corners to front, with three front entrances under bell-cast porches each serving six flats, and four servants' entrances in projecting two-storey loggias at the rear. Each flat has two or three bedrooms, the largest flats being in the projecting front ranges. Main south-facing facades slightly irregular, with broader curving windows to all living rooms and projecting balconies under round-arched openings with green-painted cast-iron railings to each upper-storey flat. All windows are metal with prominent horizontal panes, also painted green. Rear elevations of fourteen bays is more regular but with the same horizontal fenestration pattern, repeated also in the partially-glazed doors. Interiors retain timber staircases to entrance halls; many flats retain fireplaces, cornices and other period details. Included as a good example of a small-scale development of inter-war flats in a colonial style deemed appropriate for a middle-class market seeking a Hollywood-inspired lifestyle. The flats are set in their own extensive grounds and have considerable townscape value.
