Thus all knee braces were planedto fit the section of the rail, and they were also madeunusually heavy in view of the companys experiencethat such braces prove often to be the weakest partof a crossing. All holes were reamed before the cross-ing was assembled, and the crossing was put togetherwith bolts that had been turned and then installed witha driving fit. Under the A. I. E. E. standard, the GE-242-A motorhas an hourly rating of 65 hp on 600 volts, and of 55hp on 500 volts, but has a largely increased servicecapacity when compared with motors of the closed typ
