Sweat gland in skin. Artwork of a section of human skin (top) with the upper skin layers shown, along with the duct leading from a sweat pore to its sweat gland (bottom). A drop of sweat is shown on the skin. This is an eccrine sweat gland, one of two types of sweat gland found in the skin. The secretory cells are in the coiled part of the gland at bottom. Sweat released onto the surface of the skin evaporates and cools the body by carrying away heat.
