Miss., where he died in 1854, leaving a wife and sevenchildren. Five of the six sons served in C. S. A. throughout thewar, and all still living except the eldest, who died in 1899. When an infant he wascarried in his mothers arms to see his great-grandfather, JosephKnox. In his fifteenth year he went with his parents to Panolacounty. Miss. In the Confederate Veteran, June, 1897, we findthe following regarding his seryice in the army: John L. Knox enlisted in the Panola Guards in March, the close of a year the time of his enlistment, he was dis-charged. He helped to organize Yates Battery, and was chosenfirst lieutenant. He did hard seryice with the battery, but re-signed at Yicksburg in 1863. Joining W. G.
