A flintlock pistol,Cazes in Paris,circa 1780. Two-stage barrel,octagonal breech section then round. The bore has fine microgroove rifling in mm calibre. The signature,"Cazes Arquebusier du Roi,Paris"(Cazes,Gunmaker to the King,Paris)inlaid in gold on the sighting flat between leaf and vine decoration. Gold-filled mark on the base of the barrel. Lightly engraved flintlock with an additional signature. Double set trigger. Platinum-bushed vent. Walnut full stock with smooth iron furniture. Original ramrod,tip missing. Length 44 cm.
