The village of “Mödlareuth” (Little Berlin) in Germany, separated for decades by the Iron Curtain. Mödlareuth is a village with 40 inhabitants, located partly in the Free State of Thuringia and partly in the Free State of Bavaria in the Vogtland. For 41 years, the inner-German border ran through the middle of the village. Because of this situation, Mödlareuth was often called “Little Berlin”. The German-German Museum is located in Mödlareuth with exhibits on the inner-German border, an original piece of the Wall and a replica barrier system that was typical of the GDR border.
