Balloon cotton bush fruit (Gomphocarpus physocarpus) on their branch (Portugal). Native to Southeast Africa, this plant has been widely naturalized. Its fruit are in shape of an inflated light sphere (hollow follicle); they contain many small brown seeds which are wind scattered thanks to their silky pappus. Il contient de multiples graines fines de couleur foncée pourvues chacune d'une aigrette de soie argentée vaporeuse et légère qui ressemble au coton d'où son appellation de Faux cotonnier.
