At the municipally-run Addiction Treatment Center in Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, resident addicts play chess.
The municipally-run Addiction Treatment Center in Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, a working class suburb of Mexico City, is the only government financed facility for drug addicts in this city of some million people. It provides detoxification treatment on both an in-patient and out-patient basis at no cost for residents of the city. Francisco Javier Altamirano, 22, in white sleeveless t-shirt at camera left, plays chess with fellow residents of the Center's drug treatment program.
