The view looking south along the east facing side of the earthworks of the Union seige line at Fort Fisher, Petersburg. Fort Fisher was the largest earthern fortification on the Petersburg front. It was completed in March 1965 but saw no direct action. Union troops from the fort took part in skirmishes further to the west on 2nd April 1865 as General Lee retreated from Petersburg (at the site of Pamplin Historical Park).
