Norman nave of St Issui's Church with a C15th barrel roof, and carved rood loft and screen of Irish oak said to be the finest surviving example of a Border screen. Founded c 1060 when a wealthy leper, cured at St Issui's Well, donated a hatful of gold for the building of a church. St Issui was a C6th Celtic missionary who established a hermitage close to the holy well and was murdered by a man he had healed.
