There is an extreme date of 25 November, and early winter records run from 11 December through 27 December. Habits and Habitat: The Least Sandpiper is yet another breeding shorebird of northern North America that passes through Kansas in migration. It is probably one of the most common of the small "peeps," and flocks of several hundred birds at the central Kansas.
